Directions
Nicholson Ranch prides itself on small group, education-based tours and tasting. A typical tour might begin with a welcome to the Tasting Room and a taste of our current release Chardonnay. Then guests are often led into our Courtyard for a quick overview of the history of the winery. From this point, if warranted, we will break the tour into smaller groupings (we try to keep the groupings to 25 at the most), in order to provide a more intimate tour and allow for more questions. Tours will include visits and discussion of the vineyards, fermentation facilities and caves. Guests are treated to two additional wines during their tour, allowing them to taste the wines as they learn how the wine was made. Finally, the tours return to the Tasting Room to taste one more wine, and to continue their experience through one-on-one conversations with the "Ranch Hands." Tour and Tastings, $20 a person

Rutherford Hill Winery
- Tasting Room Carved deep into the cliffs behind the winery, the caves of Rutherford Hill are regarded as one of the most extensive wine-aging cave systems in America. Tunnels, galleries and passageways, extending for nearly a mile, contain over 8,000 barrels of select French and American oak. The caves provide a unique, natural environment that enhances the wine-aging process. They naturally maintain a year-round temperature of 59 degrees and a consistent humidity level of 90 percent. This uniform temperature and humidity level reduces wine evaporation and excess oxygen exposure, producing gracefully aged wines of notable character and consistency.
