Nick has been in the business for a long time. Most recently he worked at Eccolo and Chez Panisse in Berkeley, CA prior to opening Harvest Moon Cafe. Nick's wife and co-owner, Jen Demarest, is the Pastry Chef. She has been in the business just as long, most recently as the Pastry Chef at La Toque in Napa, CA.

Portuguese dishes are made more interesting because of their emphasis on seafood and the use of ingredients from Portugal's former colonies throughout the world. Rice from the Orient, hot peppers from Africa, cinnamon, cloves and ginger from India, and the New World products of potatoes, tomatoes and cod from Newfoundland find their way into many classic dishes.
