After a complete renovation, keeping the historical details intact, the Elizabeth Spencer Tasting Room was opened to the public in May 2006. Advance appointments are necessary for parties of six or more and for private sit-down tastings in The Cottage. We are closed Christmas Day.

Elizabeth Spencer was established in 1998 by Elizabeth Pressler and Spencer Graham, a husband and wife winemaking partnership. With their strong alliances with premiere grape growers, these "hands-on" proprietors have consistently secured fruit from the same vineyards in Napa Valley, Sonoma Coast and Mendocino County since the winery's inception.

Working closely with their vineyard partners, they have established mutual high standards in grape farming practices. Elizabeth Spencer wines are vinified in small individual lots using classical hands-on methods. The results are delicious, balanced and approachable wines with great purity of flavor.

Each tour and tasting appointment lasts approximately 90 minutes. You'll tour the grounds, the wine cave and have a seated tasting in the heart of the caves. This experience is $40 per person.

The Honig family bought their Rutherford ranch in 1964, and began making wine in 1980. In addition to producing award winning wines, the family is committed to protecting the environment, developing their employees, and supporting their community. Their vineyard was one of the first to receive the California Sustainable Winegrowing certification, and the winery is run on solar energy.

Located in Rutherford, in the heart of the Napa Valley, their vineyard is perfectly suited to growing Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemaker Kristin Belair focuses production exclusively on these two varietals, handcrafting the wines and then blending them for complexity and balance.

The tasting room is located off the beaten path, nestled between two beautiful vineyards. It's very relaxed and welcoming, with sit-down tastings and the opportunity to interact with family members and winemaking staff.

When they are not out walking in their sustainably farmed vineyards, the Honigs can be found dressing their staff in costumes for yet another of their famous postcard productions, demonstrating that while they take winemaking very seriously, they don't take themselves that way.

Our wines are hand-crafted using fruit organically farmed from our Rutherford Estate Vineyard, such as Peju's flagship wine, HB Cabernet Sauvignon, and our sustainably-farmed Persephone Vineyard. Travelers to the Napa Valley will enjoy our magnificent 50-foot tasting room tower, pristine gardens and unique food and wine events and classes.
