Paso Robles Wineries
Paso Robles Wineries
Mitchella is a small family owned estate vineyard and winery located on the eastside of Paso Robles along the HuerHuero Creek. We are committed to making small lots of premium handcrafted wines and believe it starts by attentively cultivating quality wine in the vineyard. We believe that sustainable agriculture rests on the principle that we must meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability for future generations to meet their own needs. You will only find our wines at the winery or in select wine bars, shops and restaurants. Wine tastings Thursday - Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Please call for an appointment.
Cerro Prieto is a 20 acre boutique vineyard, located in the mountains 4 miles west of Paso Robles. We sell 95% of our grapes to the highest end wineries, but hold back the top 5% of our grapes for Cerro Prieto wines.
Our vineyard is pruned to a mere 2.5 tons/acre, but the wines we make are
from 1 ton/acre. To date we have produced and had rated the 4 wines below.
First Crush was started as the brainchild of Becky Zelinski and her husband and Lowell Zelinski, Ph.D., who manage vineyards in the area. They wanted to share their passion, connections and love of the industry and what they do, and give wine lovers of all interest levels an opportunity to engage in the winemaking process. First Crush also offers year-round blending seminars, wine education classes and exclusive behind-the-scenes tours of many Paso Robles' wineries and vineyards. Puppy Love is the First Crush flagship wine. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and a great representative of traditional Cabernet varietal characteristics. Tastings are complimentary. First Crush is located behind the Silver Horse Vineyard & Winery at 2995 Pleasant Road in San Miguel. The winery is open Saturdays and Sundays and by appointment. They also year-round special events and classes. Wine lovers can become members of the "Crush Club," which includes two, two bottle allotments of reserve or wine club only wines and a gift per year.
Adelaida
Cellars - Wine Tastings $10 Adelaida Cellars' family owned vineyards include five distinct properties totaling 145 acres in the craggy mountainous terrain of west Paso Robles. Only 14 miles from the Pacific Ocean, these are steep and elevated sites characterized by chalk rock limestone soils. Afternoon blasts of cool coastal air create a daily microclimate that swings 40-50 degrees. Our diverse planting of 23 varieties emphasizes Rhone varieties, old vine Pinot Noir, dry farmed Zinfandel, and mountain style Cabernet Sauvignon. Stressed vines produce low yields of precise flavors The tasting room is open Monday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Alta
Colina - Wine Tastings $5 Want to visit Alta Colina Vineyard? It's a ten minute drive up the mountain from the tasting room and we are happy to schedule a Vineyard visit for all who are interested. One hundred percent of the wines crafted at Cass Winery are Estate Grown. The Tasting Room offers picnic fare and our chef prepares wine and food pairings daily from noon to 4 p.m. at the Cass Cafe to enhance the feeling of this special environment.
Christian Lazo - Wine Tastings $5 After buying the ol' McGillis place in 2002, Steve Christian and Lupe Lazo quickly became entrenched in improving the neglected vineyard, and growing Zinfandel. After what Steve affectionately refers to as "making every known mistake in farming", they fell under the rare tutelage of their neighbor and well-known pioneer of dry-farmed, head pruned Zinfandel, Richard Sauret. As their learning curve improved and demand for their fruit increased, Steve and Lupe purchased additional neighboring acreage of Zinfandel, Barbera and Petite Sirah directly from Sauret. Christian Lazo Winery soon followed and they have succeeded in producing some Paso Robles classics. Our tasting room in Downtown Paso Robles is open Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 8 p.m. and Wednesday by appt only. We are looking forward to having you in our tasting room.
DAOU
Vineyards & Winery - Wine Tastings $10 Gracefully perched atop a stunning promontory at 2,200 feet, the DAOU Spanish Colonial style winery is embraced by a tangible serenity. Hawks wheel and bank while the all-day sun caresses close planted rows of lush, emerald green vines. This kind of synergy happens rarely: superlative climate and terroir, super intensive vineyard culture, and cutting edge viticultural practice. You're more likely to find it in Bordeaux than Central California. Coupled with the infectious passion and gracious, family style hospitality of the Daou brothers, Georges and Daniel, the result is pure magic. The kind of magic that comes in a bottle. Tasting Room open daily, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Frolicking Frog Cellars Our passion is Cabernets. Cabernet Sauvignon is a brash, vigorous vine that grows easily in a variety of different soils all over the world. The Cabernet grape survives cold winters and buds late. However the Cabernet grape does need dry, well-drained soils and lots of sunshine to ripen properly. This explains why the shale rich earth of San Miguel and Paso Robles are its perfect environment. Wine tastings are by appointment only Friday through Sunday by appointment only, please.
Grey Wolf
Cellars - Wine Tastings $5 Joe and Shirlene Barton established Grey Wolf Cellars in August 1994. Since then, the Barton's have made their winery a family-run business. Joe Senior had a vision and a dream to create great wine and do so with his family. He put on his wine labels, "A family is a circle of caring, strong and eternal". He succeeded because he always put 100 percent into everything he did. Joe Senior left our pack in the Winter of 1998, but his dream and passion lives on through his family and the spirit of Grey Wolf. Joe Jr. is now the winemaker and oversees every step of the winemaking process. We have 8 acres of vineyard right on the property that include Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cab Franc and Syrah. We specialize in Zinfandel and Cab but also produce whites, Rhones and a few other eclectic varietals. Wines - Wine Tastings $0 The J. Lohr Paso Robles Wine Center is located just 6 miles east of the town of Paso Robles, easily accessible from either Hwy 101 to the west, or I-5 to the east. Zenaida
Cellars Our vines grow in a lean soil layered with calcareous shale, limestone, clay and sand. The varied soils are the key to complexity in the wines. We employ low-impact and sustainable agricultural practices which entail cover cropping with perennial grasses, water conservation and recycling grape pomace into mulch. This high-quality mulch helps the soil organisms proliferate, which in turn help the plants to uptake nutrients, discounting the need for harsh chemical fertilizers. At harvest, the fruit is hand-picked and brought into the winery in the cool of the morning. We process the fruit without the use of pumps and augers to minimize handling. Our tasting room is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended hours during winery events. |
